Entrepreneurial Experience

Pilgrim's Oak Golf Course
President & Chief Executive Officer
August 1994 - December 1997

Responsible for the leadership and successful development of Pilgrim’s Oak  Golf Course from a working concept to a completed 18-hole championship golf course.  The golf course was constructed under budget and exceeded all of the operational and financial goals in its first full year of operation (1997).  Areas of responsibility included Operations, Marketing, Finance, and General Management.

Responible for major Key Account relations, presentations, and customer satisfaction; account forecasting and financial tracking; developing and implementing the annual marketing plans; creating business reporting strategies for key customers; acting as the Senior Sales & Marketing Advisor for new account presentations; and acting as the senior strategic advisor to the President of the Commercial Division.

Geisinger Health System - Care Works - Occupational Medicine Program
Director of Occupational Medicine
December 1998 - December 2001

Responsible for financial planning, monitoring and forecasting of the system-wide occupational medicine program; developing and implementing the annual marketing plans; creating business strategies for community health programming; developing regional advertising campaigns for occupational medicine; acting as Senior Sales & Marketing Advisor for key account management at our six Occupational Medicine Clinics; managing a staff of 45 employees, which included 6 physicians; and directing and managing the accounts receivables for the program, which was $3.5 Million annually with average days in AR less than 60 days.

Hershey Foods Corporation - Hershey Pasta and Grocery Group

Responsible for developing annual marketing plans for AMERICAN BEAUTY Pasta ($42.1 Million in sales), LIGHT‘N  FLUFFY Noodles ($2.7 Million in sales), P&R Pasta ($13.2 Million in sales), and DELMONICO Pasta ($2.7 Million in sales). Performed market and customer analyses using syndicated data; developed several category management computer models to use during my key customer sales presentations on flagship brands; developed national and regional newspaper, magazine, and television advertising; created, monitored, and analyzed both consumer and trade promotions; forecasted sales and production demand based upon statistical models; traveled to and communicated with all regional manufacturing plants regarding product, packaging, and production issues; and worked closely with Hershey Foods’ test kitchens in the development of recipes and new product.

Began in 1986 as a Brands Assistant, and was subsequently promoted to Assistant
Brands Manager and then Associate Brands Manager.

Hershey Foods Corporation - Wellness Program
Administrator, Corporate Wellness Programs
March 1979 - September 1986

Hired to design, develop, and administer the Corporate Wellness Program for the
Hershey Foods Corporation.  Responsibilities included managing the daily operation of the Program’s 40,000 square foot Corporate Fitness Center; developing multi-directional programming for plant, office, and executive employees; conducting seminars and fitness classes for over 5,000 local employees; creating a network among the plants and divisions to start wellness programs at their individual sites; and administering Hershey’s Annual Youth Track and Field Event.

Recognized by Governor Dick Thornberg and the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports for outstanding leadership in wellness programs.
